Neighborhood Guide

Chelsea

Chelsea is a neighborhood on the West Side, bound roughly by 14th Street to the South and 30th street to the North. The area is filled with restaurants, delis, and clothing boutiques among a largely residential swath of beautiful brownstones and row houses or tenements above upscale boutiques. Chelsea, especially its Westernmost portion is also known for its prominent art scene, housed in contemporary galleries and artistic studios gravitating out of Soho. Other attractions in the neighborhood include the High Line, which is changing the skyline of the area, the Rubin Museum of Art and Joyce Theater.
